Met Gala 2019 Fashion Run Down
The Met Gala is known as fashions biggest night, and that proved to be right this year. Celebrities served their biggest, most elevated looks this year inspired by this years theme "Camp: Notes on Fashion,”. Inspired by Susan Sontag’s essay, “Notes on Camp” which describes Camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.”
Co-host Harry Styles made his Met Gala debut in a sheer, ruffle Gucci blouse paired with high wasited tailored pants. Harry completed his look with a pearl dangle earring and heeled boots.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner
Kendall and Kylie Jenner channeled their inner fire and ice in custom Versace gowns. The sister duo took a show-girl twist on Camp and went full glam. Kendall wore a bright orange beaded gown adorned in feathers; while sister Kylie wore a mermaid style gown with lilac feathers and stole, complete with a matching lilac wig.
Billy Porter stole the show with his entrance into the Met Gala; decked in gold Porter was carried on a black velvet litter carried by 6 men. Billy then showed off his custom “Sun God” ensemble by The Blonds that included detailed 10-ft wings.
Dakota wore a beautiful berry colored Gucci gown. The beautiful gown was renaissance inspired and included a beaded bleeding heart, sequin details, flowy sleeves and a train.
Janelle took camp to a new level in her Picasso inspired gown by Christian Siriano. Monae’s gown included asymmetrical sleeves, ballon shaped bottom, over the top hat, and a blinking eye.
Cole went for a floral look with designer Salvatore Ferragamo in red vest, matching slacks and nude top. His outfit was embroidered with colorful flowers and he went all out for the Camp theme!
